Disney Scrapbook Layout

Disney Scrapbook Layout

There has been a lot of announcements about Walt Disney World lately including that ‘Pandora’ in the Animal Kingdom will open May 21st and that Wishes, the current Firework show will end May 11th to be replaced by Happily Every After on May 12th. Between the announcements for Walt Disney World and the fact that it is less than 100 days till my Disneyland Paris trip, I have been thinking a lot about Disney lately.

I had spare printed photo of the Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom and decided that I would scrapbook the photo and place it in my current Project Life album to document the Disney World announcements lately. I started by selecting the paper and the photo I wanted to use. I went with the American Crafts – Hazelwood by One Canoe Two – Forest Berry Paper. I then decided to have a look through the paint sample cards I had to see if any of the paint names related to the Disney theme I was going for. I found a paint sample called ‘Home from Home’ and I couldn’t think of a better way to describe Disney so I knew that I wanted to include it in the layout some way.

I placed the paint sample behind the photo but felt like I needed to back the photo first to break up the blue from the sky and the blue paint colour. I first stuck the photo to a piece of yellow card, then patterned card (American Crafts – Shmielle Little by Little – Lil’ Bit Lovely Paper, from the 6×6 pad) and then white card. I placed the paint sample between the last two layers as you can see from the photo below.

I then started to add some embellishments to the bottom corner of the photograph. I knew I wanted to include the floral die cut and the ‘love’ die cut from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day Ephemera Cardstock Die-Cut pack. I first placed them where I felt they worked best. I then cut out a circle from a piece of card in a similar colour to the paint sample and placed it in the space between the two embellishments. I added a few enamel dots also.

Before I started this layout I spent time cutting the strips from the bottom of the 12×12 sheets I have and I decided to use some of them in this layout. I picked the three that I felt matched the colours the best and layered them together. I then decided to add the Polaroid camera die cut from the  Dear Lizzy Lovely Day Ephemera Cardstock Die-Cut pack.

I knew I wanted to add a quote (one of my favourite Disney quotes) to fill the space created by the sky in the photograph. The word sticker pads that I have didn’t have the exact words I needed but I knew it was still something I wanted to include so I decided to improvise a bit with the stickers.

The Wishes fireworks show has to be one of my favourite parts of Disney World but it has been announced recently that the show will soon be replaced. I absolutely love the soundtrack to the Wishes fireworks, especially the first verse. I decided that I would use Photoshop to type out the first verse and I cut the lyrics out and placed them on my layout. I then placed a small gold enamel dot star to the end of the last lyric to tie in the gold accents.

I absolutely love this layout, I think it is one of my favourites yet. I can’t wait to scrapbook my trip to Disneyland Paris in the Spring and to Disneyworld later this year. I’d love your feedback and to see your Disney scrapbook layouts so be sure to follow me on Instagram @bethhnewtonx.
